Artist Joshua Harker discusses the 3D printed medium, tools, creative struggles, piracy and the new paradigm of marketing and reproduction of 3-dimensional works, providing insight into the changing landscape for artists, as well as shedding light on the pitfalls of the 3D printing hype. Considered a pioneer and visionary, Joshua has been working with the 3D printed medium since the early 90s. His work with previously ‘unmakeable’ forms is credited as the first to break the ‘design & manufacturing possibility threshold’ and is considered a landmark event in 3D printing & sculpture. He founded & served as president & CEO of the design and development firm Paradigm Development Group through 2008, servicing some of the largest global properties and corporations. His work has been exhibited internationally and is among nearly 3,000 collections and boasts the #1 most funded Sculpture project in Kickstarter history.
